Eye on Nature is a blog about the natural world, especially those parts of nature that we can enjoy when we take the time to look at what’s around us.
I live in the New Jersey Highlands, on a wooded, rocky 1.76 acre lot that is adjacent to thousands of acres of protected mixed hardwood forest. Most of my nature watching takes place within a few miles of home, although I do sometimes visit other areas in the eastern United States.
I also am a nature and botanical artist. You can view some of my art at www.EdnaGreig.com.
Thanks for visiting!
very impressed with your macro photos! We have similar interests and only live 2500 miles apart. I write both FaunaExplored and FloraExplored on WordPress. I am living in south-central Texas on 22 acres of mixed pasture land/untouched woodlands.
In this new location in the country, I just had to switch my focus from animals to mushrooms & other flora. But I did a 6-month study on damsel & dragonflies when I lived in another location in the country and loved learning about them. I wish my camera took macro images as close as yours does!

Thanks for the comments, Mary Evelynn. My macro photos were taken with a Sigma 105 mm 1:2.8 macro lens on a Canon EOS 30D.
Love your mushroom posts!

Nicely done blog. Fun to read about the nature happenings on the other side of the country. The bear tagging expedition must have been quite a thrill.

Thanks for your comment, lmconnors. I learn a lot when I write the blog posts as well.
Hi Edna, I just found your blog and am delighted to find another nature lover-writer. I am a retired biology prof and have just taken up photography, which I use to illustrate some of my favorite stories from years of teaching. if you have a chance, check out http://bybio.wordpress.com . Meanwhile, I will be following your view of nature on the east coast.
Thanks for your comment, Sue. Your blog is very nice, with great photos. There’s so much fascinating nature to watch right in our own backyards.
